The RECOACTIV® Joint Tonicum Forte is specially designed to regulate the joint metabolism in osteoarthrosis (painful, inflammatory and degenerative processes in the joints) and to maintain the mobility of the joints.
It is particularly suitable for animals over 20 kg with movement restrictions caused by arthrosis, for animals with signs of wear and tear on the cartilage due to age, injuries or malpositions, as well as for heavy loads and for prophylaxis.
RECOACTIV® Joint Tonicum prevents nutrition-related deficiency symptoms and specifically supports the supply of the joints with specific, required nutrients such as chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine (glycosaminoglycans), green-lipped mussel extract and omega-3 fatty acids.
The glycosaminoglycans (GAG) chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine are important cartilage building materials that are required for water binding capacity and elasticity. In addition, supporting MSM, devil's claw and willow bark are included. The tonic is very well tolerated in the long term and is optimally absorbed thanks to its liquid form.
For small animals weighing up to 20 kg, the product is also available as a RECOACTIV® joint tonic .
What is osteoarthritis / arthritis in dogs?
Osteoarthrosis, or arthrosis for short, is a degenerative wear and tear of joints, cartilage and bones. The causes can be of different nature, ranging from mechanical wear and tear due to congenital malpositions and excessive stress to infections, for example from germs, bites or ticks.
It is not uncommon for arthrosis and arthritis to be mutually dependent and mutually support each other in a negative sense. As a result of damage to the cartilage, the so-called shock absorber, inflamed joints (acute arthritis) cause pain when standing up and lying down, and as the symptoms progress, also with general movement. The affected animal adopts a relieving posture to avoid pain or finally avoids movement in general, and the joy of playing decreases. This is accompanied by stiffness after periods of rest and the loss of elasticity in the joints (hardening of the joint capsule), and the animal's quality of life is reduced. If there is a lack of exercise, muscle mass is reduced, the joints are less protected and, with higher weight, are also exposed to greater stress.
The process of acute and chronic degradation processes in the affected joints continues. It is therefore of the utmost importance to maintain moderate movement, as this promotes blood circulation and thus activates and enables the necessary supply of nutrients to the joints via the synovia ("joint lubricant"). It is therefore essential to break through the negative interaction of avoiding movement due to pain and intensifying the symptoms due to a lack of movement!
How can arthritis in dogs be treated?
In the short term, pain reduction can be achieved by using pain-relieving preparations, which, however, put a strain on the stomach, liver and kidneys in the long run. Inflammations should also be treated, as there is a risk of further loss of substance in cartilage and bones. Natural active ingredients that relieve pain and are also anti-inflammatory can be used in a supportive and permanent manner in order to reduce the administration of medication or, depending on the symptoms, to completely phase it out and thus promote the health and quality of life of the animal. Moderate exercise and in particular the high-dose supplementation of ingredients important for joint metabolism such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, green-lipped mussel, chondroitin, devil's claw and MSM can significantly support the supply of the joints and thus their health.
