RECOACTIV® Renaltan Tonicum is a tasty supplementary feed with a phosphate binder for cats with kidney dysfunction. With the help of the contained phosphate binder calcium carbonate, the excess phosphate is already bound to indigestible complexes in the stomach and excreted directly. A filtration through the already weakened kidneys therefore takes place to a significantly lesser extent and the load on the kidneys is significantly reduced without endangering the cat's protein supply.
In cats with chronic renal insufficiency (CNI) and an advanced stage (IRIS phase III + IV), the use of a phosphate binder makes an important contribution to the therapy. But even in early phases (IRIS I + II) and in older animals with age-related weakening kidney function, the administration of a phosphate binder is already recommended to counteract a deterioration in organ health.
If the switch to a phosphate-reduced kidney diet is difficult or if the cat does not accept it at all, the administration of a phosphate binder to the usual "normal" food is a suitable alternative until the switch to the new food has been successful. In an advanced stage of kidney dysfunction, the combination of phosphate binder and kidney diet is indicated.
If a phosphate binder is used, regular blood tests by a veterinarian are recommended.
RECOACTIV® products contain important vitamins and trace elements and consist of natural, food-grade ingredients. They are free from grain, coloring and preservatives.
*In cooperation with the Institute for Animal Nutrition of the Free University of Berlin, Department of Veterinary Medicine, a scientific study proved that RECOACTIV® not only promotes the absorption of water but also significantly stimulates the appetite of cats and causes an increased food intake.
An average cat (approx. 4.5 kg) receives 10 ml per day.
RECOACTIV® Renaltan Tonicum is administered with the feed to ensure proportionate intake. The product should be mixed well with the feed. If the animal is fed several times a day, the amount of tonic to be administered should be divided accordingly.
