RECOACTIV® Renaltan Tonic
RECOACTIV® Renaltan Tonicum supports cats with kidney dysfunction by specifically binding excess phosphate, thereby relieving the weakened kidneys.
Complementary feed with phosphate binder for cats with kidney disease
RECOACTIV® Renaltan Tonicum is a palatable complementary feed with a phosphate binder for cats with kidney dysfunction. The calcium carbonate phosphate binder it contains binds excess phosphate in the stomach to form indigestible complexes, which are then excreted directly. Filtration through the already weakened kidneys is thus significantly reduced, and the burden on the kidneys is considerably lessened, without compromising the cat's protein supply.
Important therapeutic component in all stages of CKD
In cats with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and advanced stages (IRIS Phase III + IV), the use of a phosphate binder makes an important contribution to therapy. However, even in early phases (IRIS I + II) and in older animals with age-related weakening kidney function, the administration of a phosphate binder is already recommended to counteract a deterioration in organ health.
Flexible alternative for diet change
If switching to a phosphate-reduced renal diet is difficult or if the cat does not accept it at all, administering a phosphate binder with the usual "normal" food is a suitable alternative until the transition to the new food has been successful. In advanced stages of kidney dysfunction, a combination of a phosphate binder and a renal diet is indicated.
Veterinary monitoring recommended
When using a phosphate binder, regular monitoring of blood values by a veterinarian is recommended. RECOACTIV® products contain important vitamins and trace elements and are made from natural ingredients of food-grade quality. They are free from grains, artificial colors, and preservatives.
Scientifically confirmed
In collaboration with the Institute of Animal Nutrition at the Free University of Berlin, Department of Veterinary Medicine, a scientific study has shown that RECOACTIV® promotes water intake and significantly stimulates the appetite of cats, leading to increased food consumption.
Binds phosphate (calcium carbonate) and relieves the kidneys.
Stress-free administration with food (liquid instead of tablets).
Few, but high-quality proteins.
Allows feeding of the usual food.
Promotes fluid intake.
What is the phosphate binder needed for?
The included calcium carbonate binds excess phosphate in the stomach to form indigestible complexes, which reduces filtration through the already weakened kidneys.
How is it dosed and administered?
An average cat (approx. 4.5 kg) receives 10 ml per day. The tonic must be thoroughly mixed with the food to ensure proportionate intake.
How long can it be given and what should be considered?
It can be given permanently if needed. However, if a phosphate binder is used, regular blood tests by a veterinarian are recommended.
